They Call Matheny Home.
Help Us Keep It That Way!
A lawsuit threatens to force 30 patients with complex medical needs out of the only home many of them have ever known.
The Borough of Peapack-Gladstone filed a lawsuit seeking to force Matheny to reduce its Special Hospital bed capacity from 101 to 71, citing an outdated provision from a 2018 legal settlement.
Matheny’s special hospital is the only facility in New Jersey that serves I/DD adults with complex medical issues.
Now, Matheny faces a serious challenge that could affect the health, well-being, and stability of the patients who reside in the special hospital and call our community home.

We Need Your Voice!
Please ask your family, friends, neighbors, and community leaders to urge the Borough of Peapack-Gladstone to allow Matheny to continue serving all 101 residents without disruption.
Together, we can protect the people who depend on Matheny, which has provided support, care, and service to those with I/DD for 80 years, and has been an integral part of the Peapack-Gladstone community since 1950.
What's at Stake?
If the Borough wins, up to 30 people, who rely on the special care the hospital provides around the clock, inpatient residents could be forced to leave the community they know as home.
These individuals and their families have built their lives at Matheny. Relocation would be disruptive and potentially devastating—not only for the residents directly affected, but for their loved ones and the broader Matheny community. The loss of these beds could also undermine Matheny’s ability to continue providing the specialized services that make our mission possible.
